Cool by the Pool in Cute Coverups

Cool by the Pool in Cute Coverups

It’s Day 412 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and life has heated up to the degree that I needed some time girl time keeping cool by the pool in cute coverups.  The good news is, the life coaching side of things has been fairly consistent –– especially considering summer vacations, travel, etc. And the life clients I’m working with are truly minimizing their barriers around and maximizing their beauty (image coaching) and best lives (personal and professional). The bad news is, Consistency with my writing? –– not so much. I’m going days without posting, blogging or working on the sequel to my debut novel, Seasons of Her Soul. Even so, due to some Ds –– personal challenges that negatively impact our professional lives –– I’m facing right now, I’m in a perpetual research mode and am gathering great material for Hold on Her Heart! Given everything going on, when one of my closets Swan Soul Sisters, Kibby, suggested a weekday lounging poolside, I was quick to put work aside and go all in keeping cool by the pool in cute coverups!

Me, Pink Collar Coach, and my Swan Soul Sister, Kibby. I’m in a clearance Calvin Klein perforated teal mini dress cover up from a few seasons ago, straw sun visor and flip flops. All TJ Maxx.                                                                                       Kibby, such a natural beauty,  is tots adorbs in her hooded eyelet coverup and beaded sandals.

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Swan, time with other females is essential to my emotional and spiritual well-being. Being able to share what’s going on in our lives –– the good, the bad and the ugly –– makes all the difference in the world. Whether we’re reminiscing about the past, pondering the present, or praying about our futures, my soul and spirit are revived by time spent with other Swans who share my faith and my fears.  Kibby does all of this in spades. In addition to all we have in common, her generosity ––– way beyond monetary –– knows few bounds and she blesses me more than I can say! Never mind the fact that we never actually swam…As long as the Earth spins around the sun, our lives will heat up with Ds. I just chose to minimize them by spending at least a few of mine maximizing beauty and my best life keeping cool by the pool in cute coverups!

Soaking Up the Sun and Strength

Soaking Up the Sun and Strength

It’s Day 388 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and I’m so glad I had an extended birthday Monday soaking up the sun and strength because I got hit with some major Ds –– or personal challenges –– that evening. When my Swan Soul Sister, Kibby, asked if I’d like to go to the pool the day after my birthday, I got up early and worked so I’d be able to relax with her poolside. She blessed me with some beautiful gifts that are so Pink Collar Savvy & Chic, including a  holder for my new business cards (I’d been searching for one), desk accessories, bookmarks, earrings and nail polish. All in shades of blush pink. That and the time spent with her eating lunch, tanning, swimming and going to Zumba together made it such a lovely day. After Zumba, however, some Ds that had been swirling under the surface erupted into a maelstrom that threatened to pull me under. Rather than go there, I opted to create some boundaries and distance myself from the situation (hence no posts for three days). Looking back, I realize God gave me that day to bask in His love for me through my sister in Christ. Soaking up the sun and strength prepared me for what was to come.

Me, Pink Collar Coach, soaking up the sun and His strength by the pool. Sun hat, bathing suit, flip flops and towel all Calvin Klein from TJ Maxx accumulated over many summers.

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Life Coach who coaches women to minimize their barriers and to maximize beauty and their best lives, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised I’m facing so many challenges. I pride myself on not coaching on anything I haven’t experienced, so in a sense, what I’m going through now is on the job experience! LOL! Seriously though, all of my life, whenever I’ve tried to be true to myself –– on the home-front and in the workplace –– there has been opposition from those who want to condemn or label me as something I’m not. There was a time when I thought I had to own their nonsense, but those days are over. I know who I am. More importantly, I know whose I am. That being the case, I’m so thankful my Heavenly Father not only let me soak up some sun in the form of Vitamin D, He let me soak up strength through His Son to deal with my Ds!

Facing Ds today? Be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose and get out in the sunshine. And if you’re in need of some strength, you can soak that up through the Son. “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Phillipians 4:13.

Pink Collar Coach’s Positivity Post – First Day of Summer – June 21, 2018

Pink Collar Coach’s Positivity Post – First Day of Summer – June 21, 2018

Whether working hard from home and/or the office –– or hardly working at all (LOL!) –– make this a glorious summer!

It’s Still Summer, Let’s Savor It!

It’s Still Summer, Let’s Savor It!

Day 116 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project, has me wondering why we are rushing through the season. When I was a child, school started after Labor Day and only opened when the pool closed. Then I became a teacher and things sped up a little. School started midway through the week before. Now that was fun. Not! The children were still in full-on summer mode, and just when we teachers were able to establish some semblance of school year order over the three days we were in session, the students had a three day weekend and we were back to square one. Fast forward, literally, and our school district started August 15th! Why the hurry?

It’s the same with the holidays. In yesterday’s post I shared about turning my tragic cubby under the stairs into beautiful, comfortable, functional She Storage space (Thank you to the great response to the post!). While out shopping for the few items I added, I noticed some garish Halloween decor on display. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to the dressing up or trick-or-treating, but when did scaring the living daylights out of children with truly frightening items that look demonic become fun? Nevertheless, I was more appalled by the how the retailers have followed the schools’ cue and moved into Halloween before we even get to Labor Day. Not only that, the Thanksgiving decor is fighting for space on the shelves to the degree I felt as if I’d entered some weird time warp where the holidays collide. Christmas decor will be out by Halloween at this rate!

Somewhat disheartened and a little disappointed with my beloved TJMaxx for rushing me through the season (I want to score great deals on holiday decor but don’t appreciate having to think about it this early), I went home and savored summer. That meant putting out my Simply Shabby Chic pillows and rolling out the pretty pink dhurrie rug (Indian flat-woven rug) I’m using in lieu of the plastic floor mats my hubby said were ruining the wood because air couldn’t move beneath them. Happy oops for me since it meant I got to move those to the bedroom deck and found this beauty. Reading and enjoying a cup of coffee in in this outdoor living space beats the living room any day.

Front porch. The colors in the rug speak to the cement angel kitty and angel, as well as the mosaic rose pots and impatiens. The gazing balls reflect the all of the pink.                                              An elephant with an upturned trunk is a sign of welcome. Cut off in the pic, but not real life!

My only  gnome. I don’t usually like, but his Shabby Chic patina & love of reading won me over.

My view  from upstairs on a summer day.

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic Chick who was born in the summer of ’69, I love this time of year. God did so good on summer! I don’t want to miss it because of school district decisions or retail marketing strategies. Soon enough, fall, and then winter will be upon us. I hope this Labor Day weekend, with opportunities for biking, barbecues, horseback riding, picnics, sports, swimming, walks, and so many other activities, that you’ll get outside. And that you’ll do it after Labor Day. Even if it means leaving the office a little early, or – wait for it – on time…It’s summer now, and will be for the next three weeks. Let’s be intentional, slow down and savor it.

How do you plan to savor summer?

Be savvy & chic,
