Winter Weather Writing Weekend

Winter Weather Writing Weekend

It’s Day 10 of being back to blogging and thanks to 13″ of snow here in Cincy, I’ve enjoyed a winter weather writing weekend! Since starting my position as a Women’s Center Director back in October, I hadn’t written a word of Hold on Her Heart, the sequel to my debut novel, Seasons of Her Soul. Yesterday and today, however, due to being snowed in, I not only made wonderful progress, I did it on my first book’s one year anniversary! Being a God-thing girl, the significance of that isn’t lost on me. I’m humbled and amazed that He continues to bless me with the will and the way to live my purpose of coaching, encouraging and inspiring women. This time in the form of a winter weather writing weekend!

Balancing personal and professional responsibilities can feel daunting, but when they’re aligned, rather than conflicting, they can complement each other. In my situation, my first novel is drawn from personal experiences with domestic violence that led me to become involved in supporting other women to overcome it and other challenges. I call them Ds –– as in DV, divorce, dysfunction, depression, death, diagnosis, etc. (So much of life’s icky stuff starts with a D!) Twelve years after breaking out of the cycle of abuse with my wasband (he was my husband) and being homeless, my vocation is as the leader of a homeless shelter.  And my avocation allows me to run a life coaching agency, blog and write books. It’s all interconnected and part of the perfect plan God has for my life. Total God-thing!

Whether you are an aspiring author or a full-time homemaker who wants to be more intentional about the time you spend with your family, my prayer is that you’ll be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic and maximize the opportunities God provides for you to do what feeds your soul and blesses others. On your lunch break. While the kids nap. In the still of the night. During the wee morning hours.  When He provides a winter weather writing weekend.

Hope you’ll check out my book on it’s anniversary!

My Stories and Segments for “Overcoming the Fear Factor” Workshop

My Stories and Segments for “Overcoming the Fear Factor” Workshop

It’s Day 360 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and I’ve spent the day preparing my stories and segments for this Saturday’s “Overcoming the Fear Factor” workshop. For the last six years Pink Collar Savvy & Chic has partnered with High Heeled Success to present public workshops. We’ve repeated some but created fresh, new content for this one. That being the case, following our prep conference call yesterday, I got cracking on what which of my personal stories I’d like to share and how I’ll add unique value to the segments I’ll present. In doing so, I realized I really have come along way in facing my fears head on and wrestling them to the ground vs. my old MO, which simply running scared. Even if you’re not attending the workshop, I hope you’ll check out the “High Heeled Success Steps for Overcoming the Fear Factor” flyer.

High-Heeled Success Steps for Overcoming the Fear Factor™

For the longest time, most of the stories I shared revolved around the professional experiences I had in the workplace. A little over a year ago, however, I began the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project, where I blog daily.  That served as the catalyst for me finally getting over my social media angst and posting regularly. Soon afterward, I bit the  bullet and began to operate my life coaching business full-time. Next, I published my debut novel, making a lifelong dream come true. This led to speaking engagements beyond what I’d done before. My point? Now my stories are drawn from my experiences working for myself. And like Maya Angelou said, “Nothing will work unless you do.”

Here’s what I’ll cover:

  1. Rapport/My Personal Fear Story  – Fear Is a Liar and The Truth About Lies
  2. Fear Truths Story  – Talking to Myself vs. Listening to Myself
  3. Fear Truths Bullet Point (segment) – Pushing through fear is less frightening than fear caused by helplessness
  4. Fear Game Plan Story  – Pink Collar Savvy & Chic On Purpose Project (Blog)
  5. Fear Game Plan – Chronicle It! Story  – Full-time Fear Buster

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose entrepreneur, life coach, author and speaker, I’m so thankful I’m not letting fear win. I say that present tense because it’s an ongoing battle. Much of the time I do the work and fight scared. But it’s just like when I was in elementary and grade school, where I did more than my share of fighting. I was small and quiet. And I sure didn’t look like I posed a threat. So I got picked on. Easy target, right? Wrong! I was small but scrappy and had a mouth on me that could annihilate a foe without uttering a foul word. Once I’d fought a few bullies – scared – I got a reputation for being a formidable opponent. Mostly because I called the bullies out for what they really were – cowards. And it’s the same today. There are always new barriers and challenges that try to bring me down, but I look Fear right in the eyes and speak the truth: You’re a Liar. Armed with Truth – “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind” on my side, I’m up for the challenge of Full-Time Fear Busting and presenting my stories and segments at our Steps for Overcoming the Fear Factor workshop.

What fears hold you back in your personal and/or professional life? How can you be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose about overcoming the fear factor? Perhaps it’s joining us for the workshop. If interested in attending High Heeled Steps for Overcoming the Fear Factor, please shoot me an email at pinkcollarcoach@outlook.com. Thanks!

Coffee & Connect Book Signing

Coffee & Connect Book Signing

It’s Day 333 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and I’m excited to have a Coffee & Connect Book Signing for my debut novel, Seasons of Her Soul, scheduled at my local coffee shop. Earlier this week I sent out a request for feedback on the flyer I’d designed and had tweaked by my publisher. Thanks to everyone who weighed in! I incorporated the suggestions as best as I could…One discerning reader pointed out that the event was scheduled for Memorial Day weekend! Yikes! Fearing that would negatively impact attendance, but still wanting to fit this in before our school district – a source of steady traffic – breaks for summer, we decided to move ahead in just ten days! I hope you’ll click the link below to view the new and improved flier with the updated date and time, which has been extended to accommodate my Saturday morning Zumba friends. If you’re in the area, I’d love for you to stop by. And even if you’re not, I still hope you’ll check the flier out and be inspired to achieve a goal – like me hosting a Coffee & Connect Book Signing.

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose author, I’m beyond excited to host my first ever  event that is focused solely on Seasons of Her Soul and readers. It’s wonderful to receive calls, emails and texts telling me you enjoyed the book. And when such positive feedback is in addition to a review left on Amazon or Goodreads, it’s icing on the cake. Even so, I imagine neither will compare to meeting you face to face. The fact that some of the best coffee around will facilitate the process makes it a even better. With the electronic flier out on the web and the paper copy posted on the bulletin board and windows of the coffee shop, I’m ready for coffee, connecting, and signing the books of readers? Hello! Doesn’t get much better than that!

Will you be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose and join us?
