Though I’ve lost track of the Day #, The Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project it’s still in effect, including preparing for the annual Zumba for the Cure, AKA Party in Pink! The event is held to promote awareness and raise support to fight breast cancer. That being the case, when my marvelous mentor, Marina, suggested we shoot a video of the song, “Here to Stay”, I’m leading at this Friday night’s event –– Marina has me do a few routines in her Saturday class –– our Weekend Zumba Warriors enthusiastically jumped in with a fighting spirit – literally!
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose breast cancer scare survivor –– I had a huge tumor the doctors thought was stage four removed in 2014 –– I hope you enjoyed the video (Thanks Marina and everyone who joined in). These women are fierce! So is every woman who has ever faced this particular disease –– a huge D or challenge! Every year God uses all in attendance and especially the women who are actively fighting cancer, yet dance the whole two hours, to inspire me. Often we close with “This is My Fight Song”…So I hope you’ll be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose and will support Breast Cancer Awareness events like this one during the month of October, as well as having a mamogram and/or encouraging others to do so…More posts about this coming as we continue preparing for our Party in Pink!
Today, a lifetime of heartache, hurts and hard work yielded a harvest in the form of a bounteous bounty/life-changing opportunity that will enable me to live my purpose and best life. Will share more soon, but for now I’ll simply say Thank you, Lord! My cup truly runneth over!
If you’re a regular reader, you’re aware my blogging has been sporadic, bordering on non-existent for the last few months. I say that because I’m no longer aware what day of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project it’s supposed to be! While it’s true I’ve been dealing with some major Ds –– personal challenges that negatively impact professional performance –– (i.e. diagnosis, dysfunctional relationships, etc.). I’ve also been blessed to see God’s hand working in them all. For my good and His glory. One of the ways this is most apparent is the fact that I’m now renting a Tiny House for personal and professional use. Dream. Come. True. That being the case, I’ve been faced with a positive D –– decorating! Working diligently both day and night (with the help of my supportive hubby) to make the space into what I want it to be, it occurred to me how concerned I am about the interior of my Tiny Home. Then this morning, as I prayed following my devotion, it struck me that I need to be even more concerned about the interior of my heart. What an impactful lesson from my Tiny House decorating process!
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose blogger, I’m so excited to begin sharing the things I’ve done to make my Tiny House beautiful, comfortable and functional. I’ve gone to little expense but loads of effort to make it just right and oh so Shabby Chic! But when I’m honest with myself as a believer, I have to ask, Does sharing my faith hold as much appeal? Am I as enthusiastic about surrounding self to God’s renovation process as I am a physical space to my designs? And my answer is Not nearly. Thankfully, He called me out today to reign me back in. So starting right now, I surrender my heart to the same interior refresh as I have this new home/office. What a life changing experience from my Tiny House decorating process!
How about you? How willing are you to let God make you lovely on the inside? Will you be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose and let Him create a pure heart and right spirit in you, too? (Psalm 51:10 NIV).
It’s Day 276 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project (I’m just picking up where I left off before extreme computer and internet issues preventing me from blogging) and an encounter during this time reminded me of how it pays to pay it forward.
I’ve been facing some Ds –– personal challenges that can negatively impact professional performance –– and had an opportunity to work at a friend’s family owned business to supplement my income. I served as administrative support and created work orders for customers. Sometimes the issues were minor and could wait. Other times, they were major emergencies. Always they were handled with caring customer service. In turn, though the company does no advertising or marketing, satisfied customers pay it forward in glowing recommendations and referrals.
Whether it’s fitting in one more customer who can’t wait a day or going above and beyond the call of duty to help someone who is literally in way over their head with an issue, meeting the needs of others is the theme that runs consistently through the pipes of this plumbing business! This was the case with a client I referred to them while director of a life coaching program. The business exceeded all expectations and delivered a result –– free of charge –– that caused the city to pick up the astronomical bill for Andrea, a truly deserving lady. In turn she’s gone out of her way to give to others in ways that are extraordinary. And she keeps getting showered with extravagent BLESSINGS. A few years ago she struggled to make ends meet. Now, because her needs were met (disastrous plumbing issue resolved, healing in relationships, some financial freedom, a new home and career) she’s meeting the needs of others. Andrea is experiencing how it pays to pay it forward.
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose believer, I believe the Bible when it says, “And my God will meet all your needs.” (Phil. 4:19). I also believe He often does it through others. When that happens, there’s reciprocity. His children bless others and are in turn blessed.
How about you? Do you know someone who has a need today? On the homefront or in the workplace? Why not step out in faith, be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose, and meet it. If you do, I promise you’ll find out what my friend’s business and Andrea know. It truly does pay off to pay it forward.
