Pink Collar Coach’s Positivity Post – August 14, 2019 – Last Day of Summer Break

Pink Collar Coach’s Positivity Post – August 14, 2019 – Last Day of Summer Break

Little did I know it when one of my most special Swan Soul Sisters, Kibby, and I had our first swim this summer that it might also be our last of the season. Life hit her hard with a family medical emergency while she already splits her time between two states caring for her mother who suffered a stroke last year. Though we normally spend several lazy summer days lounging by the pool, we haven’t made it back since this photo. I didn’t post it originally because of how cooky my hat looks plus the readers on top of my head! Not a good look!. But now that my kiddos head back to school tomorrow and she’ll soon head back to her hometown since the medical emergency is thankfully under control, it makes this moment more memorable ––– cooky hat, glasses and all.

As summer break winds down for many of us, I pray you’ll be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose and find ways to mark the meaningful moments. For me it’s posting a pic that I normally may not. Not only as a way to mark the last day of summer break, but to be intentional about expressing gratitude for my many blessings, like time with a special Swan Sister who helps me to minimize my barriers and maximize beauty and my best life.

Soaking Up the Sun and Strength

Soaking Up the Sun and Strength

It’s Day 388 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and I’m so glad I had an extended birthday Monday soaking up the sun and strength because I got hit with some major Ds –– or personal challenges –– that evening. When my Swan Soul Sister, Kibby, asked if I’d like to go to the pool the day after my birthday, I got up early and worked so I’d be able to relax with her poolside. She blessed me with some beautiful gifts that are so Pink Collar Savvy & Chic, including a  holder for my new business cards (I’d been searching for one), desk accessories, bookmarks, earrings and nail polish. All in shades of blush pink. That and the time spent with her eating lunch, tanning, swimming and going to Zumba together made it such a lovely day. After Zumba, however, some Ds that had been swirling under the surface erupted into a maelstrom that threatened to pull me under. Rather than go there, I opted to create some boundaries and distance myself from the situation (hence no posts for three days). Looking back, I realize God gave me that day to bask in His love for me through my sister in Christ. Soaking up the sun and strength prepared me for what was to come.

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Life Coach who coaches women to minimize their barriers and to maximize beauty and their best lives, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised I’m facing so many challenges. I pride myself on not coaching on anything I haven’t experienced, so in a sense, what I’m going through now is on the job experience! LOL! Seriously though, all of my life, whenever I’ve tried to be true to myself –– on the home-front and in the workplace –– there has been opposition from those who want to condemn or label me as something I’m not. There was a time when I thought I had to own their nonsense, but those days are over. I know who I am. More importantly, I know whose I am. That being the case, I’m so thankful my Heavenly Father not only let me soak up some sun in the form of Vitamin D, He let me soak up strength through His Son to deal with my Ds!

Facing Ds today? Be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose and get out in the sunshine. And if you’re in need of some strength, you can soak that up through the Son. “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Phillipians 4:13.

Putting In Time at Put-In-Bay

Putting In Time at Put-In-Bay

It’s Day 378 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and my hubby surprised me with a road trip, so we’re putting in time at Put-In-Bay. After he told me about it yesterday following our breakfast with family, I packed my bags last night and jumped up early this morning to take care of some business before we headed out. We only stopped once to grab a bite and then I caught up on my sleep so I’d have stamina to enjoy the experience once we arrived. When he woke me up, we were at the marina. Lake Erie stretched as far as my eyes could see, filled with all kinds of boats, but it was the huge ferry pulling in to transport us from Port Clinton over to the island that made me smile. I’d never ridden one and was astonished that it carried not only passengers but vehicles, including a camper, across the water. The ride took about 20 minutes, then we disembarked to climb a steep incline while lugging our bags. Originally we’d planned to walk to the quaint B&B Greg had booked, but he quickly hailed a cab instead. We checked in and got settled in our room and spent the rest of the day walking the island with its gorgeous water views, attractions and far more golf carts and bikes zipping around than cars. Touring the monument to Colonel Perry from the War of 1812 was awesome because my history buff hubby told me all the details before we ever read them on the plaques. We dining on mussels, summer salad, Lake Erie Cookie Monster ice cream for me and Coffee ice-cream for my non-coffee drinking hubby and watched a stunning sunset over the water before heading back to our digs. It’s been a glorious day putting in some time in Put-In-Bay.

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose entrepreneur who began focusing on operating my own business full-time last summer, this is the first time in over a decade I’ve been able to pick up and  travel spontaneously.  And if you’re anything like me, you understand the value of taking time to rest, relax, rejuvenate and reconnect  –– with your significant other –– and even your Creator. It restores the soul. When that happens, we return a better wife, mother, friend, entrepreneur, employee… For me, I’ll also incorporate what I’ve gleaned from this special time into my life coaching, writing, and speaking. That makes the short vacay well spent – putting it in at Put-In-Bay.

Are you Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose about taking time to rest, relax and rejuvenate? Even if you can’t get away for an extended period, how about a brief road trip? You don’t have to travel far to reap far reaching benefits…

Be savvy & chic,
