It’s Day 15 (reset) of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chicon Purpose Project and after reading a comment in the 50th birthday card from my staff, I’m still celebrating the concept of being my brand. Even though I’m intentional about being Pink Collar Savvy & Chicboth in my personal and professional life, I’m still blown away and humbled by the fact this smart young woman sees me this way. That means so may others! Because this blog almost always features my favorite brands and retailers –– Calvin Klein, Shabby Chic, Target and the TJ Maxx family of retailers, it could leave readers with the impression those are the things I most value. But in essence, a Pink Collar Savvy & ChicSwan is Spirit-Led, serene at home, smart at work, serves on purpose, and owns her sense of style. That’s being my brand.
Me, Pink Collar Coach, being my brand in head-to-toe pale pink Calvin Klein – TJ Maxx. Fashion wise, for me it can’t get much more Pink Collar Savvy & Chicthan this! PERFECT PROFESSIONAL PACKAGING. Came together/purchased over years’ time. Pink Timex watch – Target.
And if I’m living any of these attributes to the degree that other women see and want to emulate them, then I’m thankful my prayers to be used by Him and to point to Him are being answered…As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chicon Purpose Director of a Women’s Center, who has the privilege to be able to live out my purpose to coach, encourage and inspire women to minimize their barriers and to maximize beauty and their best lives –– all to His glory, reading “You are your brand” is one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. “Being my brand”. Hmm. Not just best compliment. Best. Birthday. Card. Ever.
I hope you’ll be Pink Collar Savvy & Chicon Purpose and be your brand –– whatever that means to you –– too.
It’s Day 361 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and last night I got to see how other writers brand their products and am beyond impressed with these marvelous marketing mavens! The topic for this month’s monthly writing group meeting was on marketing our materials. Authors of children’s books, devotionals, dystopian, fantasy, historical fiction, non fiction, poetry, regency romance, short stories, time travel and contemporary women’s Christian fiction like me, brought banners – little and life sized, book cards and marks, candy, crayons, giveaways, resources, stationery, stickers, stuffed animals, and any number of other materials emblazoned with our brands, logos, and names. In addition, each of of shared the social media and technology strategies we utilize from the ones that have been around for a while – like blogging and Facebook (the only gentleman in the picture but not in the group has a HUGE FB following), to software programs that can customize printed pieces as well as a Vista Print designer. In my relatively new role as secretary, I took several pics and plan to post them on our group’s Facebook page next week. I got inspired by the creativity and dedication displayed by my writing tribe and look forward to sharing more about these marvelous marketing mavens!

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose author, I’m so thankful to have found this group. Several members are published, many are well on their way and some are award winning. Self-published, traditionally published and e-published are among our ranks. We come together to critique one another’s work, discuss writing and publishing, to share information and just to lift one another up. It’s so obvious that we speak the same language – if not the same genre – and often talk for long after the meeting is over. Last night, five us women stood in the parking lot laughing, learning and simply loving on each other…Warm and fuzzier aside, these women know their stuff and give constructive criticism that sometimes hurts but helps much more. Because I want to make my readers’ experience the best it can possibly be, I take their feedback to heart. To give you a great reading experience, I have to get the books into your hands – or on your screens. All the more reason to maximize the knowledge of these marvelous marketing mavens.
Are you Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose about marketing your brand or business? How can you maximize the knowledge of mavens in your field?
It’s Day 359 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project, and as I prepare to share how I’m marketing my book, Seasons of Her Soul, at writing group tomorrow night, I’ve got branding on the brain and couldn’t help but post about my Savvy & Chic Swan Snow Globe. After spending the morning on the phone dealing with some ongoing Ds, I got an unexpected call from my mentor. She educated, encouraged, empowered and equipped me – all in one call. Our relationship is evolving, and I’m excited that we also scheduled lunch to celebrate our upcoming birthdays. We’re also celebrating my continued growth as a professional. She played a key role in helping me identify my target audience and unique value. Then when I told her I’d chosen the swan as my logo, she coined “The Swan Experience” after I shared the truly transformational image coaching experience I had with a client she’d referred to me. I wanted to describe the life coaching I provide for women and added: “Minimizing barriers; Maximizing women’s beauty and best lives – through total transformation. – Because you’ve always been a Swan.” You readers encouraged me to add the crown to the logo design, so she is crowned with beauty, grace and strength. All this considered, I’m absolutely delighted to have found a piece of decor that embodies so much about my brand – a Savvy & Chic Swan Snow Globe!
Shabby Chic inspired Savvy & Chic Swan Snow Globe. TJ Maxx – $15. It lights up & has a battery compartment; I love it just the way it is & haven’t tried either.
It’s amazing to me how many swan pieces have come my way/I’ve discovered since making it my logo. Or perhaps they were always there and I just didn’t notice. A case of what you look for, you find…Either way, now I’ve got my eyes wide open and on the lookout for beautiful, functional pieces for event set up, decor, marketing, etc. Apparently my Swan Sisters do, too, because they’ve gifted me with business card holders and note pads. In many ways, it’s opened up a whole new passion for me.
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose entrepreneur, I believe the devil’s in the details. I’m trying to make my brand easily recognizable – aesthetically and in the way it not only looks but feels. Rachel Ashwell, founder of Shabby Chic, is one of my greatest inspirations. I admire her eye for beauty and giftedness in creating it wherever she goes. Not only that, she’s a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic business woman. Having this gorgeous Shabby Chic inspired symbol of my business in my home – I have a Simply Shabby Chic Christmas snow globe – speaks to me and keeps my creative juices flowing. Right now, she lives on the living room hearth – which is visible from my office/dining room – so she might get moved. Five-year-old Izzy loved my SSC Christmas globe, too and couldn’t resist picking it up… Much as I adore her, Mimi wouldn’t be happy if she broke my Savvy & Chic Swan Snow Globe!
What symbols or logos speak to you as a person? An entrepreneur. How can you be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose about incorporating them into you home or office?
Be Savvy & Chic ,
~Pink Collar Coach

It’s Day 258 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project, and in order to get the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic final Swan logo and business card submitted for a deadline, I tweaked the final design before church and teaching Zumba this morning. I knew I wouldn’t have time afterward because of a family birthday party. Though I’ve worked on it for a while, somehow, I was still down to the wire to get them back for Saturday’s “Overcoming the Fear Factor” workshop (Please see event page at http://www.highheeledsuccess.com for info). You wouldn’t think that would be the case after I had my epiphany a few months ago and realized the Swan was the ideal image to represent my coaching agency. At that time I reached out to you readers for feedback. You kindly responded and concurred that it would be perfect. Then I solicited more feedback as I went through the design process. I’m happy to report that I was able to incorporate much of your input and what I couldn’t was largely due to formatting challenges. My hubby ended up being my last sounding board as I communicated with the designer from hotel rooms while in Chicago this week. And as is often the case, he pleasantly surprised me with his good eye and attention to detail. He became vested and seems pleased as I am with the outcome. Things may evolve as my business grows, but for now I’m excited to roll out the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic final Swan logo and business card this weekend and here with you.
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic entrepreneur, I have very strong opinions about my brand and its look and feel. I want the logo, business cards, blog, books, and even decor at events to be consistent and recognizable as Pink Collar Savvy & Chic. Even so, I value collaboration and believe good things can become better when multiple perspectives are provided. Furthermore, and more importantly, I want all of the above to appeal to you – my target audience. What good is it if I love everything about my brand but you don’t? Hearing that you think the Seasons of Her Soul book cover is gorgeous means a lot to me, and if it makes you want to read it, that’s even better. Likewise, I’m hopeful that the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic final Swan logo and business cards will communicate what I do and can offer to Pink Collar Swans, like you!
That said, I hope you’ll be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose and weigh in on the final design once more. Thank you!
