Whirlwind Week and Reunion with a Writing Friend

It’s Day 321 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and this week has been a whirlwind, including a reunion with a writing friend. Tuesday I had a professional early meeting that took me to my old stomping grounds – Avondale, where I grew up. My nostalgia driving down the main drag –  Reading Road – turned to shock when I turned down the street where I was raised and became completely disoriented. EVERY single house has been leveled to the ground, and I drove up and down a few times trying to place where my mother’s and Aunt Bertie’s house once stood. I’m not sad to see the former gone – the lyrics from Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away drifted through my mind with that one – but the latter broke my heart. Needing to have some balance restored, I drove to Joseph Beth Booksellers for business and pleasure. The store features local authors, so I’m excited to have begun the process to have them carry my first novel, Seasons of Her Soul, and to have a book signing. Having taken care of that, I met with the mom of one of my former 6th grade students – now a writing friend. What a whirlwind day and such such a blessing catching up on fifteen years!

Cindy is fresh in her black and florals and I brought my A Game in an A line skirt & jacket that pair like a suit but are separates. The blue blouse, shoes 7 bag made it fun. Calvin Klein TJ Maxx.

Cindy sought me out when she heard I’d published my book to let me know she’s written one, too! She’s such an amazing woman who’s survived abuse, founded a non-profit to support other survivors, and is now sharing her journey through her writing. That being the case, we laid some collaboration plans and can’t wait to see what God will do. And of course I had to get an update on Nick, my adorable freckle-faced 6th grader who valiantly served his country in Afghanistan and is now a husband. Talk about proud teacher moment!

I shared about being in the thick of getting ready for my https://DisruptHR.co > Cincinnati talk the next evening, and Cindy gave me some much appreciated feedback on my presentation. Having experienced many of the Ds (challenges) herself, her input and encouragement bolstered me to have the best time sharing how they derail careers and what can be done to prevent them from knocking women (and men) off of their career tracks. The event sold out and I’m thrilled that my topic was so well received and to have made lots of new connections and potential coaching and speaking engagements. A fan of Seasons of Her Soultold me how much she loved the book, putting the icing on the cake. Dinner on the event organizer and more connecting until 10pm  followed…Good thing today’s coaching session with a client wasn’t until later in the afternoon!

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chicon Purpose life coach, author, speaker, and friend, it really has been a professional whirlwind. Loved every moment of it. One of the highlights was the reunion with an old Fellowship Christian School writing friend. Fifteen years may have passed, but as is always the case with this special group – the friendship picks up right where Fellowship left off…

Are you Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose about reuniting with old friends from school, church, the workplace? How can you be?

Be savvy & chic,

~Pink Collar Coach
