It’s Day 313 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and it was such a blessing to enjoy lunch with a forever friend and meeting a fiction fan. When I was the director at a life coaching program, I had the privilege of meeting Julie at a Lunch n’ Learn. I shared how to become a Life Coach and she was immediately all in. I did Julie’s orientation, then she shadowed me during a session. I could tell by the gleam in her gorgeous blue eyes she was hooked! Sure enough, Julie became one of the most committed coaches I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Much as I enjoyed our professional relationship, the deep personal ones she developed with each of the coachees I assigned her painted a picture of what true life coaching looks life. She jumped into the fray with each individual – building rapport, partnering with them to set goals, holding them accountable, and connecting them to resources to remove their barriers like she was born to do it. Soon I learned when I assigned Julie as a coach, she was in it for the long haul! Our conversation caught me up on many of the coachees she continues to work with to this day. And of course Julie wanted to hear all about how things are going with my debut novel, Seasons of Her Soul, which she’s purchased. When I handed her some book cards, our server exclaimed, I love that book! It was the first time I’ve encountered a reader in public. One of my Best. Lunches. Ever. – catching up with a forever friend and meeting a fiction fan!
When we’d first been seated, Julie and I had struck up a conversation with our beautiful server because she has one blue eye from her dad and a green one from her mom…After she went to put in our order, I joked to Julie that we might run into my husband and pastor because the restaurant is their regular meeting spot. In fact, when Seasons of Her Soul released, they’d met there and my husband took two copies to give to him and his wife. He came home excited about how their server loved the cover of the book. He’d explained to her that it was the story of a woman’s journey out of domestic violence and she teared up. Then she shared a little about her story and how she needed to read the book. Without discussing it, he and our pastor knew it was meant for her. My hubby told her, My wife wrote it for you, and gave her one of the copies. Later that night, he told me, Her name is Amber.
That being the case, my response to her I love that book, was Amber! And of course a spontaneous hug with a complete stranger followed.
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Life Coach and author, it doesn’t get much better than spending the afternoon with someone I helped develop into a phenomenal life coach turned forever friend and meeting a fiction fan who I wrote the book for. Ever since my husband told me about her, and from the moment she came to our table, even before Amber shared that the book is blessing her life, I felt an affinity for her. So in some ways, I didn’t hug a stranger at all. Rather another friend I just met…
Be savvy & chic,
~Pink Collar Coach
