Pink Collar Productivity – 7 Ways to Work from Home Like a Boss

Pink Collar Productivity – 7 Ways to Work from Home Like a Boss

It’s Day 232 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project and it’s been such a productive day that I wanted to share 7 ways to work from home like a boss. I’m amazed at how much I accomplish every day. And I still have energy left over to blog, which I only do in the evenings following Zumba. Of course every situation is different (perhaps you work in an office), but hopefully with some modification to meet your needs, you too will find yourself working from home, or anywhere, like a boss.

P ick a time to begin your workday and kick it off with prayer. Setting an alarm or rising early (You know what they say about the early bird!) and committing your day to the Lord will help you get up on the right side of the bed and off on the right foot.

R esist the temptation to multi-task with housework or to get off task with television or personal social media. Work related is alright in moderation, but beware of getting caught up in  FB, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, or the Web!

O optimize your work time by completing  tasks that require solitude when the house is empty or quiet (children at school or napping, spouse or partner at work, etc.). Getting things done when they’re not present will allow you to be more present when they are.

D o the most important or challenging tasks first. Prioritizing your work into categories like strategic (money making/related activities), relational (correspondence and networking) and tactical (administrative and routine tasks) ensures focus on the big picture instead of getting lost in the minutia.

U tilize your strengths. As much as possible, try to incorporate your strengths into your work routine. When operating in your strengths zone, you’ll experience a sense of timelessness that makes the workday fly by.

C reate a work space that is beautiful, comfortable and functional. An aesthetically pleasing place to work is inspiring, so surround yourself with what speaks to you. And an ergonomically friendly chair plus good task lighting make it easy to work hard!

E energize yourself by dressing and grooming for work. Putting your professional package together establishes a work mindset. You’ll not only get more done, you’ll feel better than if you schlep around in pjs, with your hair uncombed and no makeup on. ; )

Prioritizing my strategic tasks, which I call my “$ making activities”, always leaves me feeling       “in the pink”, an informal phrase that means “in very good health and spirits, hale and hearty”. LOVE it!

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose professional who has worked outside the home consistently for the past decade, rather than diminishing my skills, I believe working from home has augmented them. If you are currently working from home or ever have, you understand how much discipline it takes to not play the day away. But if you’re anything like me, that’s simply not an option. If anything we have to stop ourselves from working all the hours God gives! Truth be told, with my calendar of to-dos, computer and coffee (No coffee, no workee, right?), I could do that. Because there’s nothing quite as rewarding as a job well done working from home. Especially when I’m so productive that I do it like a boss!

Which of these tips can you use to be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose as you work from home? How could you adapt them to apply in the office?

Be savvy & chic,

~Pink Collar Coach
