It’s Day 225 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project, and if you adhere to the Twelve Days of Christmas, like I do, yesterday was the last day, and boy did Santa AKA Hubby, hook a sister up! An original Maxxinista, my love affair with TJ Maxx is nearly thirty years strong. That being the case, my husband knows one way to this woman’s heart is a TJ Maxx gift card. And like St. Nick, he delivers every Christmas. So of course, while in Atlanta, my sister-in-law and I made a New Year’s Eve run to the TJ’s there. I’ve seldom ever left empty handed and found a wicker look storage container to house my outside decor and a pink yoga mat, but didn’t score anything special. Then yesterday, after spending the entire day catching up on professional to-dos and book tasks for my debut novel, Seasons of Her Soul, to release next week, I took a look in my local TJ Maxx and put the gift card to good use on something I find truly special. Though my hubby didn’t pick it out for me, I still feel like Santa hooked this sister up!
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Maxxinista, one of the ways I own my sense of style is purchasing things that truly speak to me. I don’t have to go out and buy an entire new wardrobe of clothes every season or according to the latest trends. Instead, I freshen up what I have by adding a few new pieces to the ones I already own and love. This fosters my fashion creativity and inspires me to re-imagine outfits. I already know I’ll pair the handbag with a sweater with the same pink for a meeting on Monday (will post a pic of course!). Purchasing an item I love also reminds me of my husband’s thoughtfulness and generosity every time I wear it. In fact, I’m wearing a sweater bought with a gift card he gave me several years ago and it always brings a smile to my face. In addition, buying something I will use longterm helps me to be a good steward of my resources, which is important to me. Furthermore, shopping stores, like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s that I know carry my brands saves time, money, and energy, all of which I try to use wisely.
My hubby is wise too: He not only buys TJ Maxx gift cards for me, but our daughter-in-law as well. One and done, baby. Santa really does know how to hook a sister up!
How can you be Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose with gift cards you may have received this Christmas? What special item could you be on the lookout for to freshen up your wardrobe or decor?
Be savvy & chic,
