Savvy & Chic Solution for Storm Sleep Deprivation

Yesterday, Day 122 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project was Labor Day, and after a fun day sunning myself by the pool, I was too tuckered out to blog. Thinking I’d sleep like a log, instead I woke up to a violent thunder storm. Between the booming thunder and intense flashes of lightening, I was miserable…Despite many futile attempts to go back to sleep, I finally just got up and began Day 123 of the project by getting right to work before the crack of dawn.

Despite getting a lot done, because interrupted sleep is sometimes worse than no sleep for me, I felt the lack all day long. I was productive, but worked at a much slower pace than normal. Chocking my lathargy up to sleep deprivation, I’m determined to get a decent night’s sleep tonight. If you’re anything like me, having a good solution for stormy nights or simple sleeplessness can ensure you’re fresh for whatever’s on your agenda the next day.

  1. Comfy sleepwear

Pretty, pink, plush pjs – or a robe. I’m a freeze cat, so this beauty ensures I sleep snug as a bug. Calvin Klein at Marshall’s.

 

2. Sleep mask and/or black out window treatments

Shabby Chic looking satin sleep mask. I found this years ago at Michael’s. They would have helped last with had I not forgotten they were still packed away from vacation! My stepson keeps black out curtains drawn in his room and he can sleep through just about anything!

3. An inviting bed

Soft, pretty Shabby Chic bedding makes me want to make up the bed.                                                Climbing into a neat bed seems much more relaxing than a tangled mess of sheets.                                              A high thread count adds makes for luxury. Missing finial due to children jumping on the bed!

4. Unplug the Power and Plug In to Prayer

At bedtime, I try to refrain from looking at the phone after a certain time. Instead, I read a selection from my daily devotional and pray. Sometimes I neglect this and always sleep worse…

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Chick who didn’t get enough sleep and is feeling the affects of sleep deprivation, I’m looking forward to practicing what I preach. I’ve got on my comfy robe, am about to read, and will put on my mask when I close my eyes to pray. That also means, I’m wrapping up this quick blog and unplugging for a bit.
