I spent Day 119 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project with my lovely client, Janis. She was referred/reached out to me for an image consultation/coaching because she’s been experiencing some positive changes on the inside and wanted her outside to reflect them. Recently, Janis took on an administrative role assisting the Director of Care at her church. She loves the work and is thriving. She’s attended some of the workshops where Pink Collar Savvy & Chic is featured at High Heeled Success events and believed I would be able to help her. I was delighted because with every interaction, I’ve found Janis to be smart, sweet, and funny in a wonderfully droll way.
Tickled as I was to be contacted, Janis and I experienced some technical difficulties. My email kept sending hers to Junk. At one point, Janis became frustrated and emailed that she was beginning to think we weren’t meant to get together. Pish! (my beloved Aunt Birdy’s word) was my internal response. I shot an email right back calling it what I believe it really was: The devil being mad and not wanting her to do something she’d finally taken the initiative to do for herself. Isn’t that always his way? Especially with women? But you know what, after I called it out for what it was, our emails have gone through without a hitch! So there…
Still, I was a little nervous because Janis’ husband wanted to accompany us. I gave the green light, but was even more meticulous about my due diligence than usual. Janis’ main challenge was her eyebrows. She’d explained in her assessment that she didn’t have any. Don, or Sweetie Pie, as Janis calls him without exception, reiterated that and seemed very concerned about the process. I’m happy to say, however, that from the very beginning, my go-to consultant at Sephora and I won him over. We’d come up with our strategy the night before and executed it flawlessly.
As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Chick and Coach, it doesn’t get much better than this for me. Janis kept saying, “I can see my face!” and Sweetie Pie, well, other than saying how good she looked, he was rendered speechless for the most part! The Sephora cast member, as they are all called, got a little emotional and stated “This is why I do my job.” And it’s why I do mine. This was about so much more than eyebrows. As Don, oops, Sweetie Pie (Janis assured me that really is his name), stated it was about giving Janis her confidence back. So, I guess this post could have been entitled, “How Janis Got Her Eyebrows and Her Grove Back”!
