Shabby Chic Inspired Folding Screen Score

Shabby Chic Inspired Folding Screen Score

Day 110 of the Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Project set a record. As a new blogger, I received my highest number of likes on yesterday’s image consultation post from other bloggers. More than any time since I started blogging daily at the beginning of May, I felt welcomed into the blogosphere community. This was especially meaningful because it was one of the most rewarding consultations I’ve done. And the response the client received last night and today has been overwhelming – in such a good way.

In addition to the above, I’m giddy because I scored a Shabby Chic inspired screen that I spied at TJMaxx prior to my client arriving yesterday. Because the day was about her, not me, I didn’t even ask that it be held for me. But when I got home and kept thinking about it, I realized it might solve two interior design dilemmas. The first is that I have a serious dislike of the gray faux stone fireplace wall in my living room. Hate is a strong word, but, I’m just saying…To me, it’s ugly and massive. The worst combination. The second is that my attempts to hang my authentic Simply Shabby Chic tole white sconce from said wall have proven futile. And just for the record, Command Strips do NOT work on faux stone. Tried that and it was a colossal fail.

Afraid that the fantastic folding screen would be gone, I called the store and was thrilled that it was still there. Thankfully, with all of my returns from my She Shed bedroom balcony styling, I had more than enough to pay for the screen. After driving home with it protruding over a foot out my back seat window, I lugged it home and was tempted to beg the renovation crew next door to “Ayudarme!” or “Help me!” in Spanish but thought better of letting a strange guys into my house when my hubby wasn’t home. At any rate, I  wrangled the heavy thing inside, placed it against the wall, and transformed that dark corner! Even the sconce worked out, now hung from a tack stuck in the wood. Please don’t judge the photo with the chord dangling – unsightly! I just wanted to get a feel for what the sconce would look like before I rushed off to Zumba.

Shabby Chic Inspired folding screen. It adds beauty and function to the wall. Not only can I now hang  my sconce, moving the chair and ottoman allows it to serve as a backdrop for style photos. In another home or office setting, it can be used as a room divider or definer.

The screen in the evening. An extension chord run behind the screen allowed me to pull the sconce chord behind as well, disguising it and making the switch, located on the plug, accessible.

As a Pink Collar Savvy & Chic on Purpose Chick, I love it when serendipity is at work. Because I was at a TJMaxx other than the one near my home, at a time of day that I usually wouldn’t have been there, I spied the screen. The fact that it was still there today and I scored it makes me believe it was more than sweet serendipity. I’d like to believe it was Someone blessing me because in doing the image consultation, I blessed someone else.

Do you have a serendipitous score story? Please share it! Thank you.
